Molinari Delicatessen is a unique 1876 era Italian deli and import grocery chockablock with history and character. They are renowned for their salami - we are able buy it at our local store here in Minnesota. We love to walk in browsing through the imports that are packed into every available nook and cranny while breathing deeply the smells of this San Francisco North Beach icon. We have great memories here - this is Danny's old neighborhood, so a lot of time, but not enough, has been spent here. They make fantastic sandwiches and sides - you can see them up on the wall board menu (make sure you have a good idea of what you want before venturing up to the counter). We would eventually get around to getting a number, picking out a french roll from the bread area of the store, going up to the counter when our number was called, and having one of the classic deli guys make a couple Molanari Special Italian Combos, then getting drinks and going across the street to sit on the church steps, munch and watch the world go by. Danny's pretty sure those are the same steps pictured on Van Morrison's St. Dominic's Preview album cover for those people into vinyl record album trivia like Danny - looking at the album right now, he maybe right. And VM probably went over to Molanari's and had a combo after the shot - he looks real hungry and appears to be gazing over towards Molinari's in the picture...
